Vortex is designed to seamlessly interact with Nexus Mods allowing you to easily find, install, and play mods from our site, learn about new files and catch the latest news.

Nexus Mods is a website that hosts computer game mods and other user-created content related to video game modding.

To activate and install a mod simply select the mod within the Mods tab and click the "Activate" button. To deactivate and uninstall a mod simply click the "Deactivate" button. You can also double-click the mod in the list to activate or deactivate mods.

A lot of modders are leaving Nexus because of some of the frankly unethical decisions they've made. The nexus has made a rather invasive u-turn of late when they should only just publish. They even insulted their own long-term users in the process.

A full ban from the community is usually issued for serious or repeated breaches of our rules, but can also be used for additional reasons such as spam prevention. In most cases, the reason for a ban will be publicly visible in the Formal Warnings and Bans section of the forums.

The Core of the Issue: Nexus Mods banned modifications that aimed to remove They/Them pronouns from Starfield. This decision by one of the largest modding communities has sparked a debate about the limits of creative freedom and the role of modding platforms in shaping game content.

Nexus Mod Manager is the older app which has been replaced by Vortex. Mod Organizer 2 has a steep learning curve but also has many more features.

Vortex is more convenient when dealing with MOD conflicts or MOD coverage. In NMM, whenever you install a mod which is editing the same files as another mod, you will be presented with an override prompt upon installation.

Nexus Mod Manager is a free mod manager for games. Created by Nexus Mods owner Robin Scott in 2015, it grew to host numerous mods for various games over the years. In 2018, Vortex replaced NMM as the latest open-source platform, with the latter no longer receiving updates.

All mods are free to download, we do not limit which access based on our membership status. You do not need to pay for mods that are over 3MB in size. Free members are restricted to 3MB/s download speeds. Premium members are not capped at can download the maximum speed their ISP provides.

All mod files shared on our website must pass through several security checks before they can be downloaded by the community. If any of these checks fail during the upload process, the file will be quarantined and will be unavailable until it has been reviewed by a moderator.

To install any of these, simply copy the folder containing the desired plugin into $NEXUS_HOME/nexus/WEB-INF/plugin-repository . When updating the repository manager, redo the install of any optional plugins using the newest version shipping with the download of the new version.

Manual installation: Go to Nexus, download the mod you want and go to the game folder and put your mod in the Data folder, open Skyrim launcher and enable the mod. Done! Using a mod loader: Using a mod loader is the easiest way. Download a mod loader like Vortex or Mod Organizer 2.
