The Call (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Dwight Brown National Newspaper Publishers Association This film is a whole lot scarier than you think it's going to be. Rated: 3/4 Mar 7, 2017 Full Review The Call (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Wesley Morris Grantland This is a cleverly made, smartly written, totally satisfying armrest-gripper. Jan 6, 2014 Full Review The Call (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard The Call is the kind of vaguely smart, extremely gory gloop you should watch on TV, preferably when you're tucked up in bed with a delirium-inducing fever. That way, you won't notice when the script goes bonkers. Rated: 3/5 Sep 20, 2013 Full Review The Call (2013) | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Keith Garlington Keith & the Movies There is just enough tension and just enough suspense to keep you invested. Unfortunately the eye-rolling ending almost undoes everything the film does right. Kim C Fantastic movie and incredible acting by all. So realistic and put you on the edge of your seat. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/18/24 Full Review Liane C This is a very intense, suspenseful, edge of your seat thriller.I loved Halle Barry's character in this movie.I had no idea she was much of an actress.I thought she was mainly just famous for her looks.I haven't seen her in many movies.I had this recorded on my DVR for many months because the movie description sounded interesting. But I thought if Halle Barry starred in it that it wouldn't be very good.Boy was I wrong! The kidnapper in the movie is a complete wack job.A total lunatic, similar to Buffalo Bill in the Silence Of The Lambs. The movie gets way crazier than I expected! I recommend this! Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 09/29/23 Full Review Emilliano Jr S An ok thriller but not recomended. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/21/23 Full Review Chris M Too many plot holes to count. The car scene was a highlight. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/13/23 Full Review Michelle L The first thing I did after seeing this movie was go out to my car and memorize my own license plate. The movie was good and very suspenseful but I did have some plot hole questions. Like, there were questions that could have been asked to help pinpoint the car on the highway after they found out the license plate was stolen. (such as, what about your own license plate number? Or the location from the new caller to the emergency line? or even reading another license plate off a close car on the highway?) Obviously, some things had to be overlooked for the sake of having the desired peak and conclusion of the movie. And it could be chopped up to well, the characters are in a stressful moment and I, as the moviegoer, am on the outside looking in so I can see the picture as a whole. It still is a very good movie and there is a lot of suspense and we see Halle Barry's character conquer a very real and justified fear. Which to me is great storytelling that we don't get to see much of anymore because we're seeing more and more 'strong female characters' not have any flaws nor do they ever make a mistake and the Villain they most overcome is the patriarchy. it's a lot of Mary Sue characters we see in newer movies and Halle Barry is so amazing here because she is real with real struggles that she must overcome to save the life of a young girl. The only reason why I take a star away is because there were the plotholes. but even then, those plotholes I'm not even applying to Halle's character because of everything her character was going through in that moment she was facing a very real fear and was able to actually say some good ideas that could have helped the situation. The things Halle Barry said on that emergency phone call are also great because they are real things you can do if you are locked in the trunk of a car and this was a great way to teach people how they can save themselves if they are in that situation. This movie is underrated and I hope people give it a try. Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/20/23 Full Review Sabrina S I Loved It, The Car Scenes Were Top Tier, The Mystery Was Awesome!
