Top Kseries Starring Kim Sejeong (2024)

Have you ever watched a drama just because the lead actor feels like someone who resonates with you more? That’s exactly how I feel about Kim Sejeong.

Let’s talk about Kim Sejeong! She is not just one of the most charming actress I admire in K drama land. Probably we are around the same age, plus she carries such a good vibration around her. She is the kind of personality you’d want to befriend – cheerful, relatable, and so full of life that you can’t help but root for her both on and off the screen.

Kim Sejeong, a former idol from the girl group I.O.I and Gugudan has proven herself as one of the most relatable and magnetic actresses in K-dramas. Not many former idols manage to leave their mark in acting the way Sejeong has. And let’s be honest, she’s not just loved as a performer but as a human being who’s relatable, down-to-earth, and adorably funny. I started following her career since her debut series, and honestly? It’s been a joyride of emotions, laughter, and powerful storytelling. She is that typical girl-crush and tomboyish persona out there.

Moreover I also admire her for the fact that she is one of the most inspiring philanthropist who never hesitate to do her best contribution in several crisis around the world. Big respect!

Kim Sejeong has won hearts with her choice of roles. She’s powerful yet approachable, effortlessly switching from laugh-out-loud comedy to moments that tug at your heartstrings. Her dramas are not just stories—they become sweet memories for you.

5 Must Watch K-Series of Actress Kim Sejeong

So, if you’re ready to join the Sejeong fan club (trust me, you’ll want to!), here are my top 5 K-dramas that highlight her charm, humor, and raw talent.

1. School 2017 (2017)

Top Kseries Starring Kim Sejeong (1)

School series is quite popular in South Korea drama series. Its all about mystery and who did it. I have already spoke about it in when I mentioned about School 2013 in Top Series of Actress Jang Nara.

Kim Sejeong started out her acting career through the most reknowed series School 2017 as the student – Ra Eun-ho, a spirited student dreaming of becoming a webtoon artist while navigating the chaos of high school. When Kim Sejeong first stepped into the acting world with School 2017, she didn’t just dabble — she owned it. Through out the show she finds herself tangled in a mystery involving a prankster called “Student X.

Sejeong perfectly balances the teenage struggle of chasing dreams with a mix of humor, innocence, and depth. Her chemistry with co-star Kim Jung-hyun? Totally swoon-worthy! If you’re nostalgic for those high-school days, this drama is your go-to. Plus, the “Student X” ost was my most favorite back in 2017.

2. I Wanna Hear Your Song (2019)

Top Kseries Starring Kim Sejeong (2)

If you are someone who like mysteries, melodrama, fun and romance wrapped in as a single package, this drama is a hidden gem. This series is surprisingly very underrated. Kim Sejeong gave a brilliant performance here.

Ever imagined Kim Sejeong in a suspenseful, melodramatic setting? I Wanna Hear Your Song proves she’s not just about bubbly roles. Here, she plays Hong Yi-young, a timpanist with insomnia and a patchy memory of a traumatic incident. Things take a turn when she meets a tone-deaf pianist (played by Yeon Woo-jin) who holds a key to her past. I really doubted her chemistry with Yeon Woo Jin. But it came out so beautifully. And I would also need to highlight Song Jae Rim (late) performance here. He pulled out such a well layered character so effortlessly.

What I loved most was Sejeong’s ability to portray vulnerability while maintaining a quiet strength. The suspenseful plot, paired with her subtle humor and emotional moments, makes this drama unforgettable.

This drama is a mix of mystery, music, and romance, with Sejeong adding her signature charm to a darker role. Plus, the entire OST album is a must listen.

  • Total Episodes: 32 (short format)
  • Run Time: 35 min per episode

3. The Uncanny Counter (2020-2021, Part 2 in 2023)

Top Kseries Starring Kim Sejeong (3)

There is no doubt that despite her cutest appearance, Kim Sejeong has a natural pois for the role that carries tough-girl energy. The Uncanny Counter is one of my most favorite supernatural action drama. It is based on a webtoon. Mostly for the most satisfying stunts it carries. It has two parts and its a must watch for the cinematography – editing part is lit. Its very artistic.

If you thought Kim Sejeong was all smiles and sunshine, think again. Sejeong plays Do Ha-na, a fierce demon hunter with heightened senses and a guarded heart. Whether she’s kicking demon butt or slowly opening up to her quirky team, Sejeong is a total scene-stealer.

Her action sequences are intense, and her chemistry with the ensemble cast is fantastic. In Part 2, we see her character evolve further, making us root for her even harder. This drama proves that Sejeong can slay (literally!) in action-packed roles while still tugging at your heartstrings.

Her chemistry with the ensemble cast is electric, and her action scenes are breathtaking. This series is proof that Sejeong can slay (literally and figuratively) in action-packed roles.

4. Business Proposal (2022)

Top Kseries Starring Kim Sejeong (4)

Romantic comedy? Fake dating? Workplace hijinks? Business Proposal is a K-drama cringe worthy drama. You’ll also learn little bit about Product development and food scientists and their roles. Like I said… little bit… To be honest, I was personally surprised that this show out of all finally gave her a recognition to the world fans. But, I have to agree despite the cliche plot, Sejeong gave her best!

This drama catapulted Sejeong to the top of the rom-com around the world. Playing Shin Ha-ri, a food researcher who gets tangled in a hilariously chaotic blind date in place of her friend only to end up with going on a date with her boss (Ahn Hyo-seop). She delivers tones of laughter and heart-fluttering moments in a neat and sarcastic demur.

Sejeong’s comedic timing and undeniable chemistry with Ahn Hyo-seop make this drama binge-worthy. This drama is pure fun, with laugh-out-loud moments, swoon-worthy romance, and a dose of office drama. It’s no wonder it became a global sensation, cementing Sejeong’s status as a rom-com queen. Samantha and Rachel is still a thing and a meme worthy instant (IYKYK!).

5. Today’s Webtoon (2022)

Top Kseries Starring Kim Sejeong (5)

A slice-of-life drama about webtoon industry that feels like a warm hug. This drama takes you behind the scenes of the webtoon industry, exploring themes of ambition, teamwork, and personal growth. Perfect for fans of inspirational, slice-of-life K-dramas! Its a remake Juhan Shuttai a japanese drama and manga.

This series is one of my top favorite. Its always close to my heart as I watched it exactly the moment I am at the beginning of my career. It helped me to manuever through the phase where i got stuck. Even now, whenever I feel stuck, I rewatch Today’s Webtoon. I should say this is a must watch kdrama for anyone who is starting up their career, changing their career and need tonnes of motivation to sail through this adulthood.

In Today’s Webtoon, Kim Sejeong shines as On Ma-eum, a former judo athlete who finds her passion in the fast-paced world of webtoon editing. This drama is all about chasing dreams, finding your place, and navigating the ups and downs of adulthood. Moreover, if you are someone who is into Manga or Book lover, this show shows how much these books change our life day by day to survive this reality.

Sejeong’s portrayal of Ma-eum in Today’s Webtoon is so refreshing and relatable that you’ll feel like you’re watching your own struggles play out on screen. With her radiant smile and unwavering determination, Sejeong inspires you to keep pushing forward, no matter what life throws at you. The tough conversations she have with her dad… has left a lasting impact on me. And the series also has a really good ost.

Every character in this series reminds us someone who we have in our life. Its very natural. I have personally learnt alot and there are too many quotes from these series that are quite personal to me. There are so many moments as such.

The chemistry of Sejeong with each and every character hits new and fresh. Especially with Choi Daniel who played the role of Seok Ji Hyung and Nam Yoon Su as Goo Jun Young who played as the on screen love interest of Sejeong.

Goo Jun Young is another character who will end up being the most relatable.

This series is very very very underrated slice of life drama which you all should watch. It is a must watch kdrama for sure.

6. Brewing Love (2024 – Ongoing)

Top Kseries Starring Kim Sejeong (6)

Currently airing and already capturing hearts, Brewing Love is more romantic and dramatic. At the same time gives us the most thoughtful and realistic way of looking at lots of bias in the world. Especially with regards to how much men goes through as world force them to be too strong and emotionless all the time. Also, get to know more about Beers as well. Since I had seen how product development works. I found it extremely interesting. I literally took notes. lol…!

Brewing Love, combines the charm of craft beer with a heartwarming love story. Sejeong plays as Chae Young Ju a physicall and mentally strong yet fragile young woman who hides her pain while sailing through her life while working for a corporate Beer company. Her life starts to change after meeting Yoon Min Ju played by the handsome Lee Jong Won who brews craft beer in a country side with the help of the locals.

I’d say, the chemistry between these both is very flowery. Its nice to watch on a day you just wanna chill and watch. Its a beautiful series. So far its going good and I love it!
